Ryan Whitacre has over five years of professional experience in multiple award-winning design firms, including Morphosis Architects, Taalman Koch Architecture, Touraine Richmond Architects, Lincoln Street Studio, and Karlsberger Architecture. He has worked in all phases of design and construction and has experience with a multitude of project types, including residential, institutional, and healthcare. Ryan is a LEED Accredited Professional and is currently taking the exams required to become a licensed architect in the State of California.

In 2005, Ryan received the Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and participated in the School’s Architecture Honors Program with advanced coursework in studio, research, and architectural history.

In 2009, Ryan was awarded the Masters of Architecture from the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) and was one of only six students selected to graduate with Distinction. He also received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal, an award bestowed upon one graduating student at each school of architecture in the US & Canada for leadership, service, and merit. While at UCLA, he focused on digital design and fabrication as well as prefabricated building techniques. Part of a seven student team led by Pritzker Prize-winner Thom Mayne, Ryan helped to research, design, and construct the FLOAT House, a prefabricated, sustainable, and affordable floating house as part of Brad Pitt’s Make It Right Foundation in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. His Research Studio project, Go Go Metro, was selected for inclusion in the International Architectural Education Summit Exhibition in Tokyo in July 2009.

After graduation, he collaborated with former UCLA classmate Cristina Toma on the Newark ArtsPark, which was named as a Finalist in the Newark Visitors' Center Competition.
