The architecturalization of the cloud has received much attention lately, most notably with the opening of BMW Welt by Coop Himmelb(l)au in Munich last year. One tangent to this discussion may be the development of a veiled enclosure, not as a cloud, but as the sky. This would produce a vastly different effect than the cloud since the sky is not a bounded object and its immense scale makes it seem infinite. These properties make the sky a perfect veiled surface for Helsinki, where, due to its extreme latitude, sees vastly different durations of daylighting throughout the year, necessitating the use of artificial lighting. This veiled sky will hover over its programmatic contents, creating an artificial environment that mimics daylight.
