Connected Flows
UCLA Fall 2007
Instructor: Richard Weinstein
A sustainable, mixed-use development sited on 25 acres owned by UCLA along the Wilshire corridor in Westwood Village. The program, spread over two million square feet, includes 750 units of affordable housing, a UCLA Sustainable Research Center (housing the Schools of Architecture, Climatology, Engineering, and Urban Biology), transit hub, hotel, retail, and recreation center. The housing blocks are shaped and oriented to optimize cross ventilation while particular attention is paid to optimize greywater filtration and runoff reduction.
