Newark ArtsPark named Finalist

The Newark ArtsPark, a collaboration between Ryan Whitacre and Cristina Toma, has been named as a Finalist in the Newark Visitors' Center Competition. The project was one of 21 Finalists out of over 200 entries received by the Emerging Professionals / Young Architects Forum of the AIA Newark & Suburban Architects chapter.

FLOAT House completed

The FLOAT House, a prefabricated single family home for the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, marked its completion today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The home was designed and constructed for Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation by a seven-member UCLA student design team in conjunction with instructor Thom Mayne and Morphosis Architects. The affordable, LEED Platinum rated home is designed to float should the area suffer another catastrophic flood event. The event was subject to numerous media reports:
