itHouse Cabin

2011 - Pioneertown, CA
with Taalman Koch Architecture

The itHouse is a pre-cut, precision building system that is customizable and made to order. The Component Package is comprised of a structural system (extruded aluminum frame and corrugated metal roof deck), enclosure system (glass skin and insulated walls), and cabinet system (kitchen and closets).

This particular itHouse in the California high desert above Joshua Tree offers dramatic panoramic views of the desert landscape and is off-grid, relying on solar PV panels for electrical generation and thermal plates for water heating. It is also built on a raised platform, expediting on-site construction and making a lighter connection to the terrain.
